Tame Impala offshoot Pond shares sweeping new song “30000 Megatons” — listen

Latest offering follows the Kevin Parker-produced "Sweep Me Off My Feet"

Early next year, psych rockers Pond will release the follow-up to 2015’s Man It Feels Like Space Again. The Australian outfit — which features Tame Impala associates Jay Watson and Nicholas Allbrook — previously teased the as-yet-untitled LP with the Kevin Parker-produced “Sweep Me Off My Feet”. Today, they’re back with another offering in “30000 Megatons”.

Equal parts spacey and glam rock, the sweeping number would make David Bowie/Ziggy Stardust proud. According to a Facebook post, Pond originally weren’t planning to share the song until the album’s release, but “today it seems like the right time,” as its somber, despairing lyrics — about explosives, a country engulfed by flames — seem to echo the world’s grief and anger following Donald Trump’s election.
