The ever-profilic garage rocker Ty Segall will keep the momentum rolling into 2017. On January 27th, he’ll release his new, self-titled album through Drag City Records. His ninth solo effort to date follows this year’s Emotional Mugger and the debut record from his garage punk side-project GØGGS.

The 10-song tracklist includes titles such as “Break a Guitar” — what about a toilet, Ty? — “Thank You Mr. K”, and “The Only One”. However, our first preview comes with lead single “Orange Color Queen”, a tender, acoustic ballad which sees Segall romance: “You beautiful, lazy, orange-colored lady/ The morning sun, it wants to know where you go.”

In a statement to NPR, he explained the muse behind the track:

“This is a love song for my girlfriend, Denée. I’ve written her many, but I think this is my favorite. I travel around the world for a living and have developed a slight fear of flying. She’s one of the things that makes it better for me to travel. Especially when she is with me. She has orange hair, and is my orange color queen. I rarely write songs like this, because it is so easy to sound disingenuous, but I think this one is pretty good. Thanks for listening.”
