Toronto’s BadBadNotGood are known for their jazz fusion stylings, sounds which populate much of their latest album, IV. This week, they apply their modern aesthetic to something that came far before their time, the Beach Boys classic “God Only Knows”.
In a session for Australia’s triple j series Like A Version, BadBadNotGood, along with local producer Jonti, turn the ’60s staple into something fit for a smoky, late-night lounge. The warm reimagining is highlighted by soft, dusty flourishes of percussion and the rich notes of a soprano sax.
