Silicon Valley and Office Christmas Party star T.J. Miller was arrested by the LAPD early Friday morning after allegedly assaulting a cab driver. As LAPD officer Jenny Houser explained to the The Hollywood Reporter, the assault occurred after Miller and the driver had engaged in a heated political argument involving President-elect Donald Trump.
TMZ sources claim that the driver worked for the cab service company Uber and had picked up Miller from the GQ Men of the Year Party. When the two started talking politics and things became heated, Miller reportedly reached over and slapped the driver in the head, at which point the driver decided to make a citizen’s arrest and waited outside Miller’s house for the cops to arrive.
Whether or not that’s fully accurate, Houser confirmed with the Hollywood Reporter that the arrest was, in fact, recorded as a private person arrest (i.e. a citizen’s arrest) and that Miller was released later that morning without having to post bail.
