Gibbz makes love a spiritual affair on new song “Oh My God” — listen

Headlining tour to come in 2017

New York native Gibbz released his fully Kickstarter funded debut full-length, Above Water, earlier this year. Now, as another thank you to fans, he’s looking to close out the year strong with a new EP entitled Oh My God.

Today, the R&B-infused synthpop musician is premiering the seductive lead single from the project, “Oh My God”. Gibbz ponders going another round with his lover during a feel good, electro pop jam featuring lush synthesizers and a trumpet solo by Eric Benny Bloom of Lettuce. “You see, I’m used to other ladies/ They like a one-and-done/ But you a bad girl, you a bad girl,” Gibbz croons in her praise.

In a statement to Consequence of Sound, Gibbz shared the thought process behind “Oh My God”:

“‘Oh My God’ was inspired by a conversation about sexual vocalizations. I was curious why it seemed so common and natural for people to mention a deity while in the middle of having sex. ‘Oh My God’ [is] the first line of the ‘act of contrition,’ which is a Christian prayer expressing sorrow for sin. I was thoroughly entertained by the visual [and] my mind created of a new couple continuously having sex and just, sort of, ‘covering the bases’ in the eyes of God. Making sure whomever they prey to is aware that they know that they’re doing a dirty thing, but they have no intention of stopping. Also, I love a good reason to write a sexual song with a tempo perfectly matched for stamina.”

Gibbz will finish out 2016 with a string of tour dates before kicking off 2017 with a headlining trek. Find out where you can catch him live beneath the “Oh My God” single artwork below.
