After operating as Kami De Chukwu for awhile, Chicago artist KAMI is gearing up to release his first solo effort under his new moniker. The album, entitled Just Like the Movies, is an ambitious one, as it’s split in half between hip-hop and indie pop. We’ve already heard one track from each side — the synth-heavy “Home Movies” and the Knox Fortune-produced “Foundation” — and today KAMI has delivered another rap track with “Right Now”.

Once again produced by Fortune with the help of Smoko Ono, the track features a guest verse from fellow Savemoney member Vic Mensa. It’s a rumbling number that finds both rappers cutting through the struggles of life in their hometown to find their own solutions (“Somebody tell me what’s good?/ ‘Cause I’ve been doing better right now/ We roll our issues in them Backwoods”). Take a listen below.
