Metallica rip through two songs, compete in ‘Metallica trivia’ on Jimmy Kimmel — watch

Metal icons also sat down with Kimmel and shared the backstory of their logo

Metallica returned to the late-night TV circuit on Wednesday to support their latest album, Hardwired… to Self-Destructin a big way. The band effectively took over an entire episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live as they sat down for an interview, competed with a super fan in a game of Metallica trivia, and performed a pair of songs.

Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo spoke of the band’s legacy, revealing how they came up with their iconic logo (Hetfield put his high school drafting classes to good use) and how little their kids care about their music (Hammett’s rugrats prefer classical).

Later, they hit the stage and ripped through “Atlas, Rise!”, the latest single off Hardwired, along with a classic performance of “For Whom the Bell Tolls”.
