Bill Murray’s long, long history of randomly showing up to things may have now reached its logical endpoint. After serving drinks (and downing tequila) at his son’s Brooklyn bar, celebrating the Cubs’ World Series win, and doling out advice to Lupe Fiasco this year, Murray is closing out 2016 with a visit to the White House.
Earlier today, the White House tweeted out a video showing the stalwart comedian and party starter bumming around the Oval Office with none other than President Barack Obama. “Generally, I don’t let Cubs fans into the Oval Office,” Obama, a noted White Sox fan, jabs as the two knock around golf balls (Bill’s the better putter).
The video’s greater purpose is soon revealed, however, and it looks a lot like Obama’s episode of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis. See, Murray’s got a sore knee but no health insurance. Luckily, Obama’s got just the solution: the Affordable Care Act.
It feels like a Hail Mary on the Obama administration’s part to keep Obamacare alive as it faces an uncertain future under President-Elect Trump. It’s a smart one, too. If the Democrats and Republicans can agree on anything, it’s Bill Murray.
