Shigeru Miyamoto and The Roots perform the “Super Mario Bros. Theme” on The Tonight Show — watch

"IT'S THE ROOTS! AND SUPER MARIO BROS! WHO DOESN'T LOVE SUPER MARIO BROS??"

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon is no stranger to exciting guests. They seemingly have everyone on to rub hair with its manic, giddy host — from world renown magicians like David Blaine to president-elect dipshits like Donald Trump. It’s the sort of thing that keeps your parents talking to each other.

But the show also still has The Roots and as Fallon might bark, “EVERYONE LOVES THE ROOTS! THEY’RE THE ROOTS! C’MON! C’MON! THEY’RE GREAT!” Well, last night, Philadelphia’s finest invited legendary Japanese video game designer and producer Shigeru Miyamoto to jam with the band.

Together, during one of the show’s dozen commercial breaks, they revisited an old Nintendo classic: “The Super Mario Bros. Theme”. Somehow, this didn’t turn into another epic rap battle between Fallon and his boy Timberlake. Watch above and then try to fight the nostalgia after.

Miyamoto was in attendance for the unveiling of Nintendo Switch, which looks cool as hell.
