Back in October, The Orwells, announced Terrible Human Beings, their long-awaited follow-up to their 2014 breakthrough album, Disgraceland. Since then, we’ve heard opening track “They Put a Body In the Bayou” and their ode to one-night stands in “Buddy”. Now, they’re back with something quite substantial: a seven-minute, sprawling closing track titled, “Double Feature”.
“‘Double Feature’ is like one of those stories that got passed around in email chains and AOL message boards a decade ago,” writes guitarist Matt O’Keefe in a press release. “You know, that kind of shit about having to send it to five more people or something will crawl outta the ground in your back yard and you’ll find the family dog at the bottom of the pool with the neon diving sticks or something. Chain mail – what a buncha junk! We made the end of the song a chain, it just keeps going and going, wrapping itself around and then coming back up again. We’re real fond of it.”
If you can relate, and dedicate a little under 10 minutes of your time today, listen above. If you dig, check ’em out when they hit the road next Spring and Summer in support. Check out all of their tour dates below.
