Every so often, there’s a movie that’s so painfully bad that it gets over shadowed by a popular song from its soundtrack. Such is the case with Suicide Squad, where Twenty One Pilots’ contribution to the film’s OST, “Heathens”, has far out lived the shelf life of the film itself. Not only has it been nominated for three Grammys, but Vic Mensa has seen fit to use the song for his latest freestyle.
Mensa has shared “heathens freestyle.”, which opens with TØP’s hook before giving way to two-and-a-half minutes of straight bars from the Chicago rapper. He drops jokes about the band he’s sampling and a killer Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century reference while touching on the real-life violence he’s experienced growing up in Chicago’s South Side. Take a listen below, and find the Joker-referencing single art above.
