Prior to her untimely passing, soul legend Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings tackled “Please Come Home For Christmas” for Daptone Records’ first holiday compilation, It’s A Holiday Soul Party!. Now, a posthumous music video for the cover has been unveiled.
Directed by Alex Howard and David Hatter, it sees a quaint town — including resident musicians Jones and her soulful backing band — reimagined as claymation characters. (Even as a clay figure, Jones’ radiance seems irresistible here — look at that smile!) According to a press release, the sweet clip was inspired by holiday classics like the 1964 TV special of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Watch it up above.
