The most terrifying character in AMC’s Breaking Bad — well, besides Bryan Cranston’s Walter White — is getting ready to make his debut on Bad spinoff Better Call Saul. As Entertainment Weekly notes, Giancarlo Esposito will soon reprise his role as fast-food restauranteur and meth kingpin Gus Fring.
Fring only had half a face the last time we saw him in the explosive finale to Breaking Bad‘s fourth season, but he’ll be fully restored to his chilling self in season 3 of Better Call Saul, which serves as a prequel to the original series. Esposito confirmed as much on Wednesday when he tweeted, “I’m back!! What you’ve been waiting for, the rise of Gus is coming!” AMC also released a statement saying, Gus Fring will appear in season 3 of Better Call Saul,” though it’s still unclear if the role will be a mere cameo or something a bit meatier.
As you can see, Esposito’s tweet also included a new commercial for Fring’s fictional fried-chicken franchise Los Pollos Hermanos, in which the murderous drug lord can be seen fraternizing with smiling young children. Yup, this season’s going to be something else. Check out the teaser, starring Bob Odenkirk, below.
