Dan Deacon goes wild on new song “Opal Toad Segment” — listen

A frenetic number that celebrates experimental instruments

This past September, Dan Deacon released one of the month’s best songs in “Change Your Life (You can Do It)”. The Maryland-based electronic musician is back today with another fresh track dubbed, “Opal Toad Segment”.

A frenetic yet dreamy piece, it was created using “MIDI-triggered pin-point notes from an acoustic grand piano,” Deacon tells Stereogum. The cut is taken from I Said No Doctors! (January 18th), a new compilation album that celebrates the use of unconventional instruments.
