Prog rock purveyors King Crimson will tour the US in 2017, their first such outing in three years.
Mastermind Robert Fripp announced the band’s plans in a blog posted to his website on New Year’s Day, as Ultimate Classic Rock points out. The tour will take place along the West Coast during June and July, with additional dates scheduled in East Coast in the fall.
The touring lineup will consist of Fripp and longtime associates Tony Levin (bass, Chapman Stick) and Mel Collins (saxophone) alongside singer/guitarist Jakko Jakszyk and FOUR drummers, Bill Rieflin, Gavin Harrison, Pat Mastelotto and Jeremy Stacey. Stacey and Rieflin will also double as keyboardists.
Referring to this tour configuration as the “Double Quartet Formation,” Fripp said King Crimson is “likely to be making a lot more noise than before.”
