Live play surprise reunion gig with singer Ed Kowalczyk on New Year’s Eve: Video + Setlist

Original lineup's first show together since 2009 took place at The Valencia Ballroom in York, PA

We knew that 2017 would bring about the reunion of Live with their original singer, Ed Kowalczyk, but no one realized how soon it would come. Not even one second had struck in the new year before they were back together, as the band played a surprise gig at The Valencia Ballroom in York, Pennsylvania on New Year’s Eve. (Meaning, technically, they got back together for three songs in 2016.)

The show marked the alternative outfit’s first performance with Kowalczyk since he left in 2009 amidst infighting and lawsuits. He pursued a solo career while Unified Theory vocalist Chris Shinn filled in as Live’s frontman. That’s all in the past, however, and hatchets have been buried now that Kowalczyk is officially back with the band.

The Valencia Ballroom performance was invite-only, but also streamed live on the band’s Facebook page. For those who missed the stream, you can watch some fan-shot footage from the special night below. Live have plans for a world tour — including North American festival dates — and new music, so stay tuned for more from the reunited rockers.

Update: Live are the latest addition to the 2017 lineup for Rock on the Range. Taking place May 19th – 21st in Columbus, Ohio, the festival also promises performances from Metallica, Soundgarden, Primus, Coheed and Cambria, The Offspring, and Taking Back Sunday, among others.
