On Sunday night, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards revealed this year’s winners at Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium. Now in its 23rd year, the ceremony recognized the best performances in both motion pictures and television.
Film-wise, the night was fairly economical with a number of films represented, though Fences dominated with Denzel Washington and Viola Davis winning their respective nominations. Surprisingly enough, this marked Washington’s first SAG award win, though this was Davis’ fifth to date.
On the television front, Netflix had an exceptional run with major wins by The Crown and Stranger Things. The former saw John Lithgow and Claire Foy taking home Outstanding Performance nods, while the latter grabbed Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
