They’ve duked it out on Celebrity Deathmatch and inspired thousands of the same “Jack Grey” joke. But despite being intrinsically linked by name, rock music’s two most famous Jacks — Jack White and Jack Black — have rarely crossed paths in real life.

White and Black both attended the MTV VMAs in 2006, and Black introduced White’s The White Stripes during a show in 2007. But even then, there’s no photographic evidence capturing the two in the same room at the same time, which has led to some Black Mirror-esque conspiracy theories. Does Black shape-shift into the tall, pale White when he takes the stage with The Dead Weather? Or does the latter bulk up to embody the persona of the Tenacious D rocker and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star? Or, as another theory poises, “They are polar opposites, attracted to one another, but if they were to meet they would annihilate each other with the power of a thousand supernovae. That is why they are never seen together.”

Well, wonder no more; the long-awaited meeting of the Jacks has finally occurred, and the world didn’t spontaneously combust (via Exclaim). White’s The Raconteurs and Black’s Tenacious D are both amidst European tours, and at some point in the last week, the pair ran into one another. Tenacious D’s Instagram account documented the historic occasion, posting a photo of White with Black and his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass. “We hired a new merch guy!”
