After a five-year wait, Freddie Gibbs and producer Madlib finally returned this summer with their sophomore record, Bandana. Today, the hip-hop duo is sharing a video for the album cut “Half Manne Half Cocaine” starring comedian Eric Andre.
Directed by Nick Walker, the premise of the visual lays out that Gibbs has been in a coma for ten years. Andre is the doctor who Gibbs wakes up to in the year 2029, and he’s tasked with delivering the disappointing news about the future: In a terrifying nightmare of political nepotism, Trump’s son has succeeded him as president.
To help him survive, Andre gives Gibbs a canvas duffle with a supples like grenades and knives — and of course blocks of cocaine. Somehow these items lead Gibbs on a mission to the desert, where he is forced to confront an old nemesis played by Silverio Diaz. Gibbs & Madlib fans will recognize him as the antagonist of the “Giannis” video, making the “Half Manne Half Cocaine” clip the latest entry in a story that begin with “Crime Pays”.
