Wes Anderson confirms cast for The French Dispatch

Fox Searchlight has picked up the worldwide rights for a 2020 release

Big news out of the Wes Anderson camp. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox Searchlight has picked up the worldwide distribution rights to his next film, The French Dispatch, which will hit theaters sometime in 2020.

In light of the news, Anderson has confirmed the cast, which includes Benicio del Toro, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Timothée ChalametBill MurrayTilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, Mathieu Amalric, Lyna Khoudri, Stephen Park, and Owen Wilson.

“We are excited to dive back into the unmistakable and entirely original world of Wes Anderson,” said Steve Gilula and Nancy Utley, chairmen of Fox Searchlight Pictures in a statement. They’ve collaborated together since 2007’s The Darjeeling Limited.

As previously reported, The French Dispatch is “a love letter to journalists set at an outpost of an American newspaper in 20th-century Paris and centers on three storylines.” Contrary to past reports, it won’t be a musical, which is kind of a shame.
