Consequence Podcast Network and Sony’s The Opus Season 15 continues as we explore the unparalleled chemistry between Cypress Hill’s B-Real and Sen Dog.

On the group’s Cypress Hill debut, DJ Muggs sampled music and dialogue from Wild Style, the 1982 hip-hop and graffiti film featuring the likes of Grandmaster Flash, Fab 5 Freddy, Lady Pink, and Zephyr. It’s been said that B-Real’s vocal approach was inspired by the movie’s Rammellzee, as he used a high-pitched, nasal rap style that sounded nothing like his speaking voice.

But that’s what made B-Real’s voice play off the boom of Sen Dog’s authoritative baritone so well. The two rappers have individual vocal deliveries that are incredibly unique in their own rights, which make them utterly unmistakable when paired together. Cypress Hill had vocal and personal chemistry. Nobody sounded like them.

In Episode 2 of The Opus: Cypress Hill, we dive into that chemistry to explore what has made it so appealing to hip-hop fans then and now. Joining host Jill Hopkins on this aural exploration are Sen Dog and B-Real themselves, as well as the legendary Chuck D of Public Enemy and the Prophets of Rage supergroup alongside B-Real. Also part of the discussion are RuffHouse Records co-founders Joe Nicolo and Chris Schwartz, and Rod Starz and G1 of Rebel Diaz.
