Hip-hop boy band extraordinaire BROCKHAMPTON began 2022 by announcing an indefinite hiatus and a tour cancellation. However, a mere three scheduled performances survived the chopping block: Back-to-back nights at London’s O2 Academy Brixton (February 7th-8th), and a final final set at the upcoming 2022 edition of Coachella.

With just two cities being able to bid BROCKHAMPTON farewell, it felt all the more special to be present last night. At their final performance in London on February 8th, the goodbye came with a loving sense of urgency — it was clear that fans knew exactly what they had, and exactly what they were losing: “The group is ending… sad face.”

Thus, BROCKHAMPTON kicked off their set by addressing its inherently bittersweet nature. In addition to not only being their final performance in London, it was also their final performance in the entire Eastern Hemisphere. However, the heaviness of the goodbye fueled what turned into an electric celebration of a band that had made such a distinctive impact during their time together.

With a setlist peppered with picks from their acclaimed Saturation album trilogy, every moment of BROCKHAMPTON’s performance felt supercharged. It felt like there wasn’t one lyric that fans didn’t sing along to, and beat changes were punctuated by plumes of smoke that shot up from the front of the stage.
