A spokesperson for the actress called the rumors "inaccurate, insensitive and slightly insane"

Despite recent rumors that Amber Heard has been cut from Aquaman 2, a new report from Variety confirms that the actress will not, in fact, be recast in the sequel.

While rumors swirled that Heard — who plays Princess Mera in the franchise — was set to be replaced by Nicole Kidman in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, a spokesperson disputed the reports in a statement, saying, “The rumor mill continues as it has from day one — inaccurate, insensitive and slightly insane.”

False reports of Heard’s firing come after a jury found the actress guilty of defaming her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Heard wrote a Washington Post op-ed in 2018 in which she described herself as a victim of abuse, and Depp claimed that the story — which never mentioned him by name — damaged his career.

Heard was ordered to pay $10.4 million in damages to her ex-husband, which her attorney contested. Still, despite calling the verdict a “setback” for victims of abuse, Heard said in her first post-trial interview that she didn’t blame the jury for finding her guilty, citing a social media frenzy that swayed the public.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom hits theaters on December 16th. See the first look at Jason Momoa in the sequel here.
