Nathan Fielder is set to make his long-awaited return to television with The Rehearsal, a new six-episode comedy series coming to HBO / HBO Max on Friday, July 15th.
According to a plot synopsis provided by HBO, the series explores “the lengths one man will go to reduce the uncertainties of everyday life. With a construction crew, a legion of actors, and seemingly unlimited resources, Fielder allows ordinary people to prepare for life’s biggest moments by ‘rehearsing’ them in carefully crafted simulations of his own design. When a single misstep could shatter your entire world, why leave life to chance?”
Fielder wrote, directed, and stars in The Rehearsal, which marks his first on-screen role since Nathan For You came to an end in 2017. The project stems from Fielder’s overall content deal with HBO, which he struck in 2019. He also executive produces How To with John Wilson, which was recently renewed by HBO for a third season. He’s also attached to star opposite Emma Stone in a new Showtime series from the Safdie brothers called The Curse, which is slated to begin filming this month.
