Damon Lindelof, the co-creator of Lost, The Leftovers, and The Watchmen on HBO, is developing a secret Star Wars feature for Lucasfilm, according to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter.
No plot or story details have been revealed, but the film reportedly takes place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and involves characters from the sequel trilogy. Lindelof is said to be co-writing the script with Justin Britt-Gibson. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning filmmaker who recently helmed several episodes of Ms. Marvel, is on board as the director.
As the film is still in the initial stages of development, the earliest possible release date would likely be Christmas 2025.
For now, Star Wars is focused on the small screen; this year, Lucasfilm shared the limited series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Andor. Next year brings The Mandalorian Season 3, which features Christopher Lloyd, and Ahsoka starring Rosario Dawson. Lucasfilm is also working on a story with Taika Waititi that could be ready as early as late 2023.
