How Can I Stream Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse For Free?

The streaming release date isn’t available for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as of yet.

However, Sony Pictures signed a deal with Netflix in 2021 that gives the streaming platform a period of around 18 months to host their new films. While there is no exact streaming release date available, the film could arrive on Netflix at some point before the end of the year.

When the first entry in the Spider-Verse trilogy, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, was released in 2018, it arrived on Netflix 74 days after premiering in theaters. If Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is released within a similar timeframe, that means the film would be arriving on Netflix sometime in August. Plans for Netflix start at $6.99 per month for the Standard with Ads tier.

Sony Pictures also has a deal with Disney+ in which they can begin streaming Sony titles after Netflix’s 18-month period ends. So, if you prefer Disney and don’t mind waiting, it’s likely that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will end up there at some point, too. New subscribers of Disney+ can get a 30-day trial by signing up here.

What Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse About?

The sequel to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse follows Miles (Shameik Moore), “Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man,” and his companion, Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), as they travel across the Multiverse, meeting all sorts of Spider-People along the way. From there, Miles must go up against his fellow Spider-People in order to save all the universes, as well as the folks he loves.

Packed with what Consequence’s Senior Entertainment Editor Liz Shannon Miller described as an “overwhelming amount of jokes, asides, nods, Easter eggs, and beyond,” the film is almost a meta experience. In the end though, as Miller puts it, “it all comes together to create a wild roller coaster of a film.” Read her full review.

Where Can I Watch the Other Spider-Man Movies?

The first film in the Spider-Verse trilogy, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, is currently available to rent or purchase on platforms including Prime Video, Apple TV, Vudu, and YouTube.

But if you’re on even more of a Spider-Man kick, or want to revisit some of the live-action classics, Disney+ has you covered. The streamer currently has 2002’s Spider-Man, and its two follow-ups, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man 3, as well as the original ‘80s cartoon, 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, and more. New subscribers of Disney+ can get a 30-day trial by signing up here.

The early-2000s live-action Spider-Man trilogy is available on Netflix as well.
