Although Claire Cottrill began posting covers on YouTube beginning when she was 13, the Massachusetts native didn’t emerge into the popular conscience until she posted “Pretty Girl” on YouTube in 2017. Currently, with over 34 million views (and 57 million plays on Spotify), the song catapulted Cottrill to internet fame.
After Clairo’s debut EP, diary 001, arrived May 2018, she earned an opening spot for Dua Lipa before hitting the festival circuit. One year later, in May 2019, Clairo announced her debut album, Immunity, and released leading single “Bags”, which was followed by “Closer to You” another month later. Immunity came out August 2nd, 2019. Clairo was named CoS Artist of the Month that same August.
