Chicago by Mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared Tuesday, September 23rd as “David Bowie Day” to commemorate the opening of David Bowie Is, a new retrospective exhibit at the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
On today’s Rock it Out! Blog, we make our way to the MoCA to speak with the exhibit’s curator, Michael Darling. He discusses the origins of “David Bowie Is…” and why Chicago became the only US city to house the exhibit. Darling also offers a preview of the 200-plus personal archives that’ll be on display and explains the exhibit’s integral use of sound.
