Dropkick Murphys are set to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a special livestream concert. Ahead of the show, we caught up with co-vocalist Ken Casey, who shared a fun memory of the band’s experience one year at Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The Massachusetts-based Celtic punkers have been commemorating St. Patrick’s Day with special shows every year, but as was the case last year, the 2021 celebration will be virtual due to the pandemic. Dubbed “Still Locked Down”, the stream will begin on Wednesday, March 17th, at 7:00 p.m. ET at this location.
We recently caught up with Dropkick Murphys founder Ken Casey via video Zoom to discuss the band’s upcoming album, Turn Up That Dial!, which arrives on April 30th. That interview is coming soon, but in the meantime we wanted to share a pretty funny story he told us about the band’s float going astray at Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Without giving the whole story away (we’d rather you hear it directly from Casey in the video above), Dropkick Murphys were performing on a float during the parade but at some point the flatbed veered off the route. From there, things got a bit dicey. As Casey told us, it would have been awesome if drones were a thing back then, as they would’ve been able to capture it all on video.
