Wrapping up our series of interviews from Mad Cool Festival 2022, indie outfit Local Natives joined Consequence on the backstage couch to talk about returning to the road, working on new music, and the upcoming 10th anniversary of their sophomore LP Hummingbird.

“Nik [Ewing], our bassist, was just doing some undercover work on that — trying to do some politicking, I think. He tweeted if anybody would want us to do an anniversary show,” said frontman vocalist/guitarist Taylor Rice. “So he texted us and was like, ‘You guys, the people have spoken. We need to do a Hummingbird anniversary show.’ I think that would be cool!”

While the band is currently focused on bringing their energy to their live shows — having recently launched their North American tour (tickets for which can be found here) — they’ve also spent the last few years (ie, the pandemic) writing new music. Watch the full interview above to see what Local Natives have to say about playing live again and what they’ve been working on.
