Once again, we’ve thrown on our favorite velvet robe, turned up the fire, and are here to regale you with stories of the greatest and most classic albums of all time. It’s a fresh, new perspective on why these albums are filed under “M” for masterpiece.
To celebrate its 20th anniversary, host Justin Gerber takes a fond look back at the first half of the brilliant 1995 double album from The Smashing Pumpkins; Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Known as Dawn to Dusk, part one of the record included the smash singles “Bullet With Butterfly Wings”, “Tonight, Tonight”, and “Zero”, as well as deeper celebrated cuts “Muzzle” and “Porcelina of the Vast Oceans”.
Mellon Collie, which followed the success of the Pumpkins previous release Siamese Dream, would further push the band into the outer stratosphere of rock stardom. The album earned the band seven Grammy nominations including Album of the Year and Record of the Year in 1997, and cemented their status as one of the best rock bands of the 90s.
