Ahead of their set at Mad Cool Festival 2022, Modest Mouse joined Consequence for an interview that revealed some interesting news for fans.
In addition to touching on the highs and lows of playing music festivals in Spain, Isaac Brock and Simon O’Connor teased some upcoming projects. “[We’re working on] a seven or eight song EP,” Brock said. “I’m excited about that. It’s a companion piece to the last record, [2021’s The Golden Casket], but a bit stranger.”
Brock also touched on working with Johnny Marr again, a collaboration which brings Marr back into the Modest Mouse fold after his 2006-2009 stint with the band. “I sent him a track and he played a guitar part on one of them,” Brock said of Marr’s input on the in-the-works EP. “And him and I have discussed writing together at some point. But the fact of the matter is he’s way over there, I’m way over there. We’re always busy doing other stuff… More likely than not, we’ll write something at some point.”
