Rock it Out! Blog: “A Conversation With Eddie Trunk”

While he’s never rocked out in front of legions of fans, Eddie Trunk is one of the most important names in hard rock and heavy mental. Starting his career at Mega Force Records in the ’80s, Trunk rose through the ranks from intern to the role of vice president, serving as executive producer for albums from Anthrax, Manowar, and KISS guitarist Ace Frehley. Then, in the early ’90s, Trunk began hosting radio full-time, first with New York’s WNEW before eventually moving to Sirius XM to lead Trunk Nation. The outspoken New Jersey native has also written several books and contributes to VH1 Classic’s That Metal Show.

Earlier this year, That Metal Show kicked off its 13th season, and in celebration of that momentous occasion, Trunk sat down with the Rock it Out! Blog to talk the show’s future and all things metal. He lets us in on what to expect on this season, how guests for the show are booked, and his take on why rock and metal are not the dominant genres in music today. It’s a revealing, no-holds-barred chat with one of the scene’s most entertaining and insightful figures.
