Earlier this year, at South by Southwest, Soundgarden performed their album Superunknown in its entirety in honor of its 20th anniversary. Prior to the performance, Rock it Out! Blog host Sami Jarroush sat down with singer Chris Cornell and bassist Ben Shepherd and discuss the importance of the 20th anniversary.
Cornell and Shepherd discuss what it was like to record the album following the success of their previous release, Badmotorfinger, whether or not there were earlier incarnations of the songs before the final version was released, and why Superunknown has stood the test of time while other albums have faded away.
