Rock it Out! Blog: “Aberdeen, WA celebrates Kurt Cobain Day”

Tomorrow, February 20th, Aberdeen, Washington will hold its first annual Kurt Cobain Day, celebrating the life and times of the iconic Nirvana frontman. Falling on what would’ve been the singer’s 47th birthday, the new city holiday involves a day of food, music, and commemorative ceremonies.

On today’s Rock it Out! Blog, Sami invites Abderdeen mayor Bill Simpson to discuss the day’s festivities in detail. Simpson reveals some of the unannounced highlights, the steps involved in planning such an event, and his thoughts on the town of Hoquiam’s similar celebration set for April 10th. (Cobain was born in Aberdeen and lived briefly in Hoquiam).
