Are you someone that looks for new bands each day? Do you find yourself using the phrase “I knew them before they were big” in conversations? Well, then this show’s for you. Welcome to #AreaCode, a brand new series on the Rock it Out! Blog that focuses on up and coming bands and artists from around the country.

On this installment of #AreaCode, we head across the pond for the very first time and visit with the band Shields from Newcastle, England.  In addition to a performance of their song “Mezzanine”, the band discuss the Newcastle music scene and how its more of a community instead of a competition. They also spoke about meaning behind their circular symbol, what they would have been if they didn’t get into music, and what’s the best part about being in a band.
