Rock it Out! Blog: “Should Radio Stations Limit Airplay For Foreign Artists?”

Recently, Equador passed a law stating that the country’s radio stations must dedicate 50% of its playlists to home grown artists. Laws like this have already been implemented in countries including France, Canada, and Venezuela. It’s meant to develop their own burgeoning music scenes but it also limits airtime for American and other international acts.

On today’s Rock it Out! Blog, Sami invites Norm Winer, Program Director for Chicago’s rock radio station, WXRT-FM, to discuss the pros and cons of such a law and what would happen if it were implemented among American radio stations.
