Welcome, rocker nation, to a brand new episode of Rock it Out! Blog. Every Friday, host Sami Jarroush rounds together an esteemed panel of critics, musicians, and comedians to discuss the week’s biggest headlines.
This week’s panel is made up of Consequence of Sound staff writer Randall Colburn along with A.V. Club staffers Becca James and Ben Cannon. To start, they discuss the omission of Dr. Dre’s abusive past from N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton and whether these films have a responsibility to include the darker side of a person’s story.
They also discuss the break up of Pink Floyd and debate when bands should actually call it quits. Plus, they play a game inspired by on NOFX’s Fat Mike to determine which on-stage antics can be actually be considered “punk rock.”
Additionally, we head to Chicago heavy metal burger joint Kuma’s Corner to get a taste of their August Burger of the Month, and we bring a you a quick look at next week’s Lollapalooza interview with Shakey Graves.
