Welcome, rocker nation, to a brand new episode of Rock it Out! Blog. Every Friday, host Sami Jarroush rounds together an esteemed panel of critics, musicians, and comedians to discuss the week’s biggest headlines.
This week’s panel includes Chicago Tribune writer Britt Julious, Modern Vices frontman Alex Rebek, and comedian Jay Washington. They begin with news of Columbia House’s filing for bankruptcy and wax nostalgic about times they’ve ordered 13 CDs for a penny.
They also offer up reviews on three new songs that were released this week by CHVRCHES, Joanna Newsom, and Lana Del Rey. And they reveal which movies they’re most anticipating from the many that were recently announced including Leonardo Dicaprio’s The Devil in the White City and a film version of Baywatch starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
