Do you listen to music so much that you’d be willing to have headphones surgically implanted into your ears? Because that’s what salesman and “body modification enthusiast” Rich Lee went ahead did. He had tiny magnets installed into his ears and, with the help of a homemade electromagnetic coil, can listen to his favorite songs without the aid of external headphones. In the future, Lee hopes to expand beyond mere music listening, modifying the implants to act as a directional mic or even a Geiger counter.
On today’s Rock it Out! Blog, Sami invites audiologist Dr. Marie Vetter to discuss the pros and cons of undergoing such a procedure. Would this be something you would consider doing? Or does your musical obsession end just short of cosmetic surgery? Let us know in the comment section below.
