Rock it Out! Blog: Why is Apple so scared of Taylor Swift?

Welcome, rocker nation, to a brand new episode of Rock it Out! Blog. Every Friday, host Sami Jarroush rounds together an esteemed panel of critics, musicians, and comedians to discuss the week’s biggest headlines.

This week panel includes Consequence of Sound staff writer Randall Colburn, WXRT on-air talent Emma Mac, and comedian John Eide. They kick off the show by discussing Taylor Swift’s open letter to Apple Music regarding artist royalties, which resulted in a reversal of Apple’s policy. They theorize why Swift is so powerful and whether Apple Music can overcome its early hiccups.

The panel also analyzes Linkin Park’s decision to start their own venture capital firm and whether other bands might follow suit. Plus, they discuss a strange story involving a woman who stabbed her roommate for playing The Eagles too much in their apartment.

Also, we bring you a sneak peek at next week’s Treehouse Session featuring a performance from San Fermin, and Kevin Kellam hits the streets to ask Chicago locals what music would cause them to stab their roommate.
