Earlier this week, iHeartRadio shared video of an interview between ex-MTV VJ Kennedy (remember her?) and Major Lazer, which took place during Lollapalooza. It’s been described as “the most awkward interview of all time,” “the most cringe-worthy interview of all time,” “the most painful interview ever,” and “the worst interview of Major Lazer’s career.”
Well, we had our own disaster of an interview during Lollapalooza, which just might top Kennedy’s convo with Diplo and Friends. Because, at the end of the day, at least her interviewees were able to sit through the whole thing.
As the story goes, Rock it Out! Blog intern Pat Levy conducted his first-ever interview with Wavves backstage at their Lollapalooza after party at Chicago’s Empty Bottle. We already interviewed Wavves once this year and it turned out well enough. It’s not like we were sending Pat to interview Johnny Rotten or anything. Or, so we thought.
Within seconds of the cameras being turned on, the conversation immediately spiraled out of control. Nathan Williams spoke about Martin and his disdain for Vampire Weekend, though half the time he failed to hold the mic up to his mouth. Then, he had an issue with the table, then he walked off camera. And, well, the rest is history.
Thank you to Wavves for allowing us to post this.
